New data from the U.S. Census Bureau reveals the number of employed, working-age Americans with a disability has increased by an estimated 1.7 million people since the start of the pandemic. Close to one million of those new cases are people who reported limitations on their thinking. Experts say the rise in cognitive issues aligns with brain fog, a common symptom of Covid long-haulers. However, researchers say “it’s not yet possible to fully dissect all the reasons behind the increase.” Remote work in a tight labor market may have facilitated job retention for those dealing with symptoms like brain fog.
