It is going around. You likely know at least one person right now who has a cold or flu. Itchy watery eyes, hot face, sneezing, body aches, night sweats, cough, but the worst part of all of it is the congestion. Not being able to breathe is just tiring.

While there still is no cure for the flu or common cold there are a few things you can do that will make it more bearable. Let’s talk mucus. Mucus (phlegm) is released by the respiratory system as a way to protect itself. This obstructive gooey substance forms in your sinus cavities and clogs up your breathing passages. No matter how much you blow your nose, more just seems to form.

Eliminate the mucus, naturally and easily. We will show you how.

There are several ingredients found in nature that help your body to flush mucus fast. Here is a list as well as how to use them.

Turmeric: Curcumin, the active ingredient in Turmeric has strong antibacterial and antiseptic properties. It can help eliminate bacteria and boost the immune system. Turmeric can be sprinkled on meals, taken in capsules, or mixed in a hot toddy.

Ginger: Ginger is an expectorant, antiviral and antibacterial. Fresh ginger root is the best. You can slice it for tea or add it to meals, or even just eat it fresh if you like the taste. Along with this, spicy foods of all kinds can also help speed up metabolism and treat colds and flu.

Cinnamon: Cinnamon can pack a punch. It boosts the immune system and helps loosen and remove mucus.

Lemon & Honey: This combo helps loosen and prevent congestion. Anti-fungal and antibacterial in property. Mix a tablespoon of honey and 2 tablespoons of lemon juice. Drink three times daily to fight congestion and phlegm.

Apple Cider Vinegar: Antibacterial, anti-fungal, and immune-boosting. Just a tablespoon a day may keep the doctor away! Add to a hot toddy, or drink with just a little water.

Salt Water: Saltwater can help soothe a sore throat as well as clear phlegm. Mix 1 teaspoon with a cup of warm water and use it to gargle. Do not drink.

Steam: Sauna, hot shower, even a hot bath or a bowl with a towel over your head. All methods of getting steam where it needs to be – in your sinuses. Repeat a few times daily. It helps the lungs eliminate mucus.
