Exercise can improve heart function in women with breast cancer

breast cancerA recent study reported that exercise benefits women who are undergoing breast cancer treatment. The study was presented on December 7, 2018 at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium, and it was the largest trial to date that measured cardiovascular function in patients before any breast cancer treatment.

According to C. Kent Osborne – co-director of the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium and director of Dan L. Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston – it is the first study to measure maximum oxygen uptake, which is the maximal rate at which oxygen can be used by the body during maximal work.

Maximum oxygen uptake is directly related to the maximal capacity of the heart to deliver blood to the muscles.

Other studies have also examined the benefits of exercise during treatment and confirmed that it is helpful.

Statistics for breast cancer in women in the U.S.

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among American women. About one in eight women in the U.S. (about 12 percent) is estimated to develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime. Breast cancer death rates are also higher than rates for any other cancer, except lung cancer. (Related: Breast Cancer Linked to Obesity in Women of All Ages, Leptin Probable Culprit.)

However, being diagnosed with breast cancer isn’t the end of everything.

Today, women who are diagnosed with breast cancer have better outlooks than patients did several years ago. Breast cancer treatments have improved over the years, and survival rates are now higher than they were in the past decade.

According to the American Cancer Society, the five-year relative survival rate of women with breast cancer of all stages is about 90 percent – meaning that, on average, they are about 90 percent as likely to live for at least five years after their diagnosis as women who don’t have the disease.

How exercise improves heart function

Last year, researchers reported that women who participated in a supervised exercise program while undergoing breast cancer treatment had better cardiovascular fitness than women who did not.

The study was sponsored by Oslo University HospitalSt. Olavs Hospital, and The Research Council of Norway. It began in September of 2014 and was conducted by a team of Norwegian researchers.

Their findings are particularly important as breast cancer survivors experience a decrease in heart function after undergoing cancer treatments.

Cancer treatments like chemotherapy and radiation therapy can be harsh, and they can cause toxicity to the heart muscle. The lead author of the study, Inger Thune, also said that cardiovascular disease is a significant cause of death among breast cancer survivors.

The study involved 375 women who had undergone surgery for stage 1 or stage 2 breast cancer. About 57 percent had chemotherapy, while 78 percent had radiation therapy.

The researchers measured the patients’ heart function prior to surgery. Then, they divided the women into two groups: The control group, which did not participate in a supervised exercise program, and the intervention group, which received the benefit of having a trained instructor supervise their twice-weekly, 60-minute workouts.

Their exercise regimen consisted of aerobic exercise, stretching, and weight training. The participants also did additional physical activity on their own for 120 minutes each week.

The researchers reported that women in both the control and intervention groups experienced a decline in their maximum oxygen uptake six months after their surgeries. However, by the 12th month, the women who regularly exercised showed an improvement in their maximum oxygen uptake, while the women in the control group had worsened maximum oxygen uptake.

A full year after their surgeries, the researchers reported that the women in the intervention group had returned to their pre-surgery cardiovascular strength, suggesting that regular exercise strengthened their heart muscles and restored their hearts’ normal function.

“Breast cancer patients should be offered a tailored exercise program that’s based on their pre-surgery level of physical function,” suggested Thune. He also confirmed that the exercise regimen they used for the study was safe.

First ever study looks at the potential of eugenol (found in honey) for treating triple negative breast cancer

breast cancerBreast cancer is becoming more and more prevalent not just in women but also in men. This is a major health concern because of the high mortality risk associated with this disease. Although there are conventional treatments for breast cancer, these are often ineffective and are associated with adverse side effects. Because of this, scientists continue to explore natural agents that work against breast cancer without causing complications. In a study by King Saud University and Cairo University, they found that eugenol has potential use as a natural remedy against triple negative breast cancer.

There are different types of breast cancer based on biological characteristics or gene expression patterns. One of these is triple negative breast cancer, which is characterized by the lack of progesterone receptor (PR), estrogen receptor (ER), and human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 (HER-2). Compared to other types of breast cancer, it often results in poorer outcomes. Additionally, the absence of commonly targeted receptors in triple negative breast cancer cells makes it more difficult to treat.

Most mortality cases in breast cancer patients can be attributed to the metastasis of cancerous cells. This is possible with the help of molecules like matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), which induce changes in the microenvironment. MMPs play different roles in different cancer stages. Many breast cancer patients have elevated levels of MMP2 and MMP9. These molecules are involved in the formation of new blood vessels in tumors. Moreover, these are associated with shorter periods of relapse-free survival.

Eugenol is a phenolic compound found in honey and the essential oils of aromatic spices like cloves and cinnamon. Previous studies have shown that it has potent antiseptic, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and antioxidant properties. It also works against colon, liver, prostate, and breast cancer by inhibiting cell growth, triggering cell death, and preventing the formation of new blood vessels. However, there are no prior reports of eugenol’s effects on triple negative breast cancer cells.

In this study, which was published in BMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine, the researchers evaluated the in vitro effects of eugenol on the growth, metastasis, and apoptosis or programmed cell death of triple-negative breast cancer cells (MDA-MB-231). They also tested it against HER-2-positive breast cancer, an aggressive form of breast cancer characterized by high levels of HER-2. To determine the effects of eugenol on metastasis, the team evaluated the expression levels of MMP2 and MMP9, as well as an MMP inhibitor. Meanwhile, the degree of apoptosis was based on the expression of caspases, which are genes involved in apoptosis.

The results of the study showed that eugenol inhibited the proliferation of triple negative and HER-2-positive breast cancer cells by up to 76.4 and 68.1 percent, respectively. The eugenol-treated cells also exhibited significant reductions in MMP2 and MMP9 while their expression of pro-apoptotic genes increased.

Overall, the results of this study suggest that eugenol has potential as a natural remedy for triple negative breast cancer, as well as HER-2-positive breast cancer. This is based on the potent anti-proliferative and anti-metastatic properties that it exhibited in vitro.

Other natural remedies against triple negative breast cancer

The following bioactive compounds also have beneficial effects against triple negative breast cancer:

  • Vitamin D — Triple negative breast cancer is often associated with mutations in the breast cancer gene (BRCA1), which stimulates rapid tumor growth. Fortunately, the pathway involved in this action can be inhibited by vitamin D. You can get this nutrient by getting some sun exposure or increasing your intake of fatty fish, egg yolks, and mushrooms.
  • Indole-3-carbinol — A study from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) showed that indole-3-carbinol inhibits an enzyme that’s crucial for the rapid growth of breast cancer cells. To get more of this nutrient, increase your intake of broccoli, kale, cauliflower, and other cruciferous vegetables.
  • Curcumin — Curcumin, which is the active compound in turmeric, is known for its extensive effects against different cancer processes in different forms of cancers. (Related: Curcumin targets aggressive and lethal forms of cancer while leaving noncancerous cells unharmed.)

Anti-Inflammatory Foods that Prevent Breast Cancer

Anti-Inflammatory Foods

Experts suggest that the most effective way to lower cancer risk is by making healthy lifestyle changes. To boost your overall well-being, maintain a healthy weight and eat anti-inflammatory foods that can also help lower your risk of developing breast cancer.

According to Alexandra Rothwell, a registered dietitian and a specialist in oncology nutrition, being overweight is one of the main risk factors for breast cancer. Since inflammation is also associated with both breast cancer and being overweight, eating anti-inflammatory foods can help you maintain your blood sugar levels and minimize inflammation.

The foods included in the list below aren’t just nutritious. They can also help reduce inflammation and prevent breast cancer.

Add fish like herring, mackerel, salmon, and sardines to your diet because they are full of omega-3 fatty acids. Rothwell explained that omega-3s can help reduce inflammation in the body. Alternatively, you can also eat seeds and walnuts if you prefer a non-animal source of these fatty acids.

A 2014 study, which was published in Cancer Causes & Control, suggests that consuming more omega-3s is also connected to a reduction in breast density.

Fruits and vegetables

Various studies have determined that eating a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables regularly can help lower your risk of developing breast cancer. Experts posit that there are several reasons why a plant-based diet is good for you.

A 2015 study revealed that fruits and vegetables are rich antioxidants, and the more antioxidants in a diet, “the lower the breast cancer risk may be.”

The power of the elements: Discover Colloidal Silver Mouthwash with quality, natural ingredients like Sangre de Drago sap, black walnut hulls, menthol crystals and more. Zero artificial sweeteners, colors or alcohol. Learn more at the Health Ranger Storeand help support this news site.

A separate 2011 study, which was published in the European Journal of Nutrition, showed that the fiber found in fruits and vegetables can help fuel their ability to lower cancer risk. (Related: Reduce your risk of breast cancer by 21% by simply eating one more serving of veggies a day.)

Rothwell recommends eating the following vegetables if you want to naturally lower your risk of developing breast cancer:

  • Allin vegetables – Sources include garlic, leeks, and onions.
  • Asian mushrooms – Sources include Chinese black, oyster, and Shiitake mushroom.
  • Cruciferous vegetables – Sources include broccoli, cabbage, and cauliflower.

However, Rothwell suggests that you should try to stick to low-sugar fruit varieties, such as berries. She added that you need to limit high-sugar fruit, like bananas, mangoes, and pineapples, to keep your blood sugar levels normal.

Olive oil

Considered a healthy fat, olive oil offers many benefits. It can also help reduce breast cancer risk.

Data from a 2015 study revealed that adding four tablespoons of extra-virgin olive oil to a healthy diet full of fresh fruits and vegetables can help lower breast cancer risk by a whopping 68 percent.

Additionally, olive oil “may come with an additional benefit relating to breast density,” another confirmed risk factor for breast cancer. According to a 2014 study, which involved more than 3,500 female participants, adding an extra 1.5 tablespoons of olive oil to your daily diet is linked to lower breast density.

Turmeric, a spice commonly used in Indian cuisine, contains curcumin. This substance has powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Studies have shown that curcumin can help reduce the toxic effects of certain breast cancer cell and that it can potentially prevent the growth of cancer cells.

While there isn’t a scientific consensus on recommended daily dosage, common dosages in studies that offer health benefits range from 200 to 500 milligrams (mg) of curcumin daily.

Exercise regularly to maintain a healthy weight and add more anti-inflammatory foods to your diet to lower your risk of developing breast cancer.

Mom Age 44 Cured Deadly Breast Cancer With CBD Oil, Refused Chemo

Dee Mani, Age 44, Cured Triple Negative Breast Cancer – the deadliest form –  in 5 Months With CBD Oil After Refusing Chemo

Another UK patient is turning heads with another amazing testimony regarding their positive use of cannabis oil, or, CBD oil, which does not contain the psychoactive compounds that get you “high.”

SEE: Autistic Boy Gains Ability To Speak After Just 2 Days Of CBD Oil

Daily Mail reports:

A mother-of-two claims she has cured her aggressive breast cancer by taking one drop of cannabis oil every day.

Dee Mani, 44, refused chemotherapy when she was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer – deemed the deadliest form – and instead opted to try CBD.

Doctors gave her the all-clear just five months after she opted for the oil, which is derived from cannabis but doesn’t cause a high.
Ms Mani, from Birmingham, found a lump in her breast in March 2017 and soon after was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Of course, her doctors offered her chemotherapy which is standard medical treatment. However, Dee refused because it failed to keep her sister alive. She decided to break out on her own and studied alternative medicine. That’s when she found out about cannabis oil and its accompanying claims.

In the UK, CBD oil is often sold as a supplement because the rules are a little murky, however, CBD oil is presumably allowed to be prescribed though it’s unlikely to be prevalent. In fact, the first Briton ever was only recently prescribed medical marijuana(different from CBD oil) to relieve deadly seizures.

The Cannabis Health Index: Combining the Science of Medical Marijuana with Mindfulness Techniques To Heal 100 Chronic Symptoms and Diseases

She then found a local supplier which costing £22 ($34) a month and started taking the “revolting” cannabis oil once every evening. It bears noting that she also cleaned up her diet and began meditation. By August she was given the “all-clear” by her doctors.

She said:

Because of what happened to my sister, there was no way I was having chemo or radiotherapy.

At first when I spoke to the doctor I agreed to everything I was told, I said I’d have one year worth of chemotherapy but then I did my research.

After finding out about cannabis oil I started to put one drop into a capsule every night and take it before bed.

Within four months I believe that I cured myself and then when I was given the all clear, I knew it was the cannabis that cured me.

Alongside curing my cancer, it’s helped me with my insomnia, my allergy to dust and the pain in my back from having slipped discs.

Daily Mail cont.:

Cannabidiol, or CBD, is one of more than 80 cannabinoids, natural compounds found in the marijuana plant.

Extracted from the plant as a mineral-rich oil, it is usually bottled with a dropper – but also comes in the form of chewing gum, soap or as a vape oil for e-cigarettes.

It has no side effects, either, and is not addictive.

It has been reported to help people with epilepsy, rheumatism, migraines, psoriasis, acne, multiple sclerosis and depression.

Crucially, cannabidiol oil does not contain any THC, the psychoactive component of cannabis. In other words, CBD does not get you high.

Mani, who is still cancer-free, continues to take CBD oil each night. She has written about her journey in a new book called My Way.

Last year, a Scottish woman astonished the world when she cured her deadly brain tumor using CBD oil.

Slim isn’t enough: Post-menopausal women need to be fit too in order to avoid breast cancer risk

fitness with a normal body mass index (BMI), but who have high amounts of body fat are more prone to breast cancer, a study presented to the American Association for Cancer Research found. This means that for post-menopausal women, it is not enough to be slim but to be fit as well in order to prevent breast cancer.

The study was conducted by a team of researchers in the U.S. who looked at the relationship between body fat levels and breast cancer risk. In conducting the study, the used the data gathered by the observational study called the Women’s Health Initiative (WHI). The study was based on a total of 3,460 post-menopausal women who were between 50 and 79 years old. The participants had a normal body mass index, a baseline dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) measurements, and no record of breast cancer.

The research team did a follow-up observation on the participants after a median of 16 years, in which they found that 182 of the participants developed invasive breast cancer, and 146 of these cases were ER-positive. Moreover, they observed that women with higher body fat mass were about two times more prone to ER-positive breast cancer in comparison to those with lower body fat levels. In addition, they discovered that regardless of having a normal BMI, there was an increase of 35 percent in the risk of ER-positive breast cancer for every five kilograms (kg) increase in whole body fat.

Meanwhile, women with elevated amounts of body fat had lower physical activity levels, which indicates that physical activity may be essential even for those who are not obese or overweight.

“These findings will probably be surprising to many doctors and patients alike, as BMI is the current standard method to assess the risks for diseases related to body weight,” said Andrew Dannenberg, MD, associate director of Cancer Prevention at the Sandra and Edward Meyer Cancer Center of Weill Cornell Medicine.

Ways to lose body fat naturally

Losing body fat will help lower the risk of cancers. In order to do this, here are some tips to follow:

  1. Be aware of your calorie intake – By eating less and moving more, the body will use some of the fat stored to exercise and to fuel daily activities. Meanwhile, calorie reduction can lead to lean muscle mass reduction. For women, the daily recommended calorie intake is a minimum of 1,200 calories, while men should have at least 1,800 calorie intake daily.
  2. Eat protein – One way to lose body fat is to eat foods rich in lean proteins because they make you feel full and they need more calories to digest than fats or carbohydrates. Eating enough protein also helps maintain and build lean muscle mass, which boosts metabolism. After your workout, you can eat protein-rich snacks, such as a smoothie made with berries, almond milk, and whey protein, half a turkey sandwich on whole-grain bread, or two hard boiled eggs with a banana.
  3. Eliminate poor-quality calories – Eat vegetables, fruits, and whole grains to replace calories from processed foods.
  4. Do cardio exercises – One of the essential ways of losing body fat is cardiovascular activity, such as running, cycling, hiking, swimming, and dancing, as it helps burn calories.

Confirmed AGAIN: Sodium nitrite preservative in processed meat causes breast cancer

sodium nitriteThe jury is in and the verdict is final: Processed meats like bacon, salami and sausage all increase breast cancer risk. A metanalysis of all 15 previously conducted studies on the subject, published recently in the International Journal of Cancer, has confirmed that eating processed meat is associated with a 9 percent increase in the risk of developing this type of cancer.

While there has been a lot of hype about the risks of eating red meat, this study found no connection between red meat consumption and increased breast cancer risk, confirming what Mike Adams, founder and editor of Natural News has been saying for 15 years. The increased risk is specific to processed meats because of their high nitrite and nitrate content.

“When we look at all the evidence together there is an increased risk of breast cancer with diets high in processed meats,” Dr. Mariana Stern, lead author from the University of Southern California’s Keck School of Medicine, told CBS Miami.

What’s the problem with processed meat?

The additives that take meat from healthy to dangerous are known as nitrites and nitrates. These chemicals are added to processed meats to preserve them, prevent the growth of harmful bacteria, add a salty flavor, and give cured meats their pink or red color.

Though our bodies naturally contain these chemicals and they are present in high amounts in certain vegetables, the problem comes in when they are exposed to heat in the presence of amino acids. When this happens, they turn into entirely different compounds, known as nitrosamines, which are potent cancer causers.

Since processed meats are high in protein and therefore a source of amino acids, adding nitrates or nitrites to them and then exposing them to heat provides a perfect environment for the production of these dangerous nitrosamines, and therefore dramatically increases cancer risk.

Processed meats also increase risk of other cancers

Back in 2015, the World Health Organization classified processed meats as a group 1 carcinogen, meaning there is sufficient evidence to prove that they cause cancer.

The U.K.’s Guardian reported at the time:

Health scares are ten-a-penny, but this one was very hard to ignore. The WHO announcement came on advice from 22 cancer experts from 10 countries, who reviewed more than 400 studies on processed meat covering epidemiological data from hundreds of thousands of people. It was now possible to say that “eat less processed meat,” much like “eat more vegetables,” had become one of the very few absolutely incontrovertible pieces of evidence-based diet advice – not simply another high-profile nutrition fad. As every news report highlighted, processed meat was now in a group of 120 proven carcinogens, alongside alcohol, asbestos and tobacco – leading to a great many headlines blaring that bacon was as deadly as smoking.

Mike Adams warned back in 2004 that processed meats cause colorectal cancer, brain tumors and leukemia. And in 2005, he warned that they increase the risk of pancreatic cancer by 67 percent:

Consuming processed meats increases the risk of pancreatic cancer, says new research conducted at the University of Hawaii that followed nearly 200,000 men and women for seven years. According to lead study author Ute Nothlings, people who consumed the most processed meats (hot dogs and sausage) showed a 67% increased risk of pancreatic cancer over those who consumed little or no meat products.

The evidence is clear: It’s time to eliminate all processed meats from our diets. In fact, replacing all processed foods with fresh, unprocessed, organic fruits, veggies and meat is the healthiest choice we can all make for our future health.

Can Eating Avocados Help Prevent Breast Cancer?

avocadosSixty percent of Americans claim they have avocados on their list. Odds are, you probably do too! But did you know that avocados may also be protective against reproductive cancers like breast cancer as well?

Avocatin B and Carotenoids in Avocados Fight Cancer

Avocados have dozens of benefits for health, not the least of which is the presence of phytonutrients which can target cancer cells.

One substance is Avocatin B. This is a kind of fat unique to this fruit (as a side note, avocados are not a vegetable, but a single-seeded berry).  According to a 2015 report published in the journal, Avocatin B was found to fight acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), a rare form of cancer. The researchers of the joint study, which hailed from several institutions in Italy and Canada,  found that this substance was able to get rid of not only regular cancer cells, but also cancer. Healthy cells remained untouched.

Of equal, if not more, importance on the cancer prevention track are the kinds of antioxidant carotenoids found in avocados. You might remember carotenoids in carrots and other bright fruits and vegetables since it is responsible for creating plant pigment.

According to the , avocados contain 11 different kinds of carotenoids. Lutein is one kind that research has shown can affect cancer cells directly. While lutein alone has been found to reduce the risk of prostate cancer in previous studies, a conducted by researchers at the University of California, Los Angeles found that lutein was even more effective when the extract of the whole was introduced to prostate cell lines. Whole avocado was up to 60 percent more effective in going after prostate cancer cells than purified lutein alone.

A 2012 study published in the journal provided more evidence as to the chemo-protective affects of avocados on prostate cancer. It followed 209 newly-diagnosed men and 226 cancer-free men in Jamaica. In the study, a high intake of monounsaturated fatty acids (in the form of avocados) “reduced the risk of prostate cancer.”

Antioxidants in Avocados Reduces Breast Cancer Risk

No studies have been conducted on avocado extract and breast cancer directly. The results from the prostate studies mentioned above, however, are relevant for anyone who is on a healing path with breast cancer. Some of the same exist for breast cancer as with most reproductive cancers in both men and women.

Some studies connection lutein intake with breast cancer prevention directly.  According to the Harvard-sponsored , consuming foods that contain lutein, such as kale, spinach and avocados, can lower the risk of breast cancer. A also found that higher serum levels of lutein were connected with a 51 percent reduction in breast cancer risk.

As if all this wasn’t enough, avocados are also a a high-fiber food, contain significant amounts of essential nutrients like B vitamins and potassium, can help make your hair and skin glow and are great for .

What’s the bottom line? Eating avocados is an all-around win-win for breast and prostate cancer prevention and for your overall good health!

Breast cancer drug Lapatinib ACCELERATES cancer cell growth, concludes new study

A shocking new report has revealed a sordid truth about yet another one of Big Pharma’s cancer “treatment” concoctions: Lapatinib, used in breast cancer treatment to shrink tumors, actually makes cancer grow faster. There is no shortage of cancer drugs that makes people sicker, instead of healthier, it seems. Lapatanib is typically used in conjunction with other treatments and chemotherapy — but has failed clinical trials as a solo treatment method. Taken together, it’s hard not to ask, why are oncologists even prescribing this poison?

The latest research was led by scientists at the Francis Crick Institute in conjunction with King’s College London and Barts Cancer Institute of Queen Mary University of London. And what they found was that lapatinib feeds cancer cell growth in some types of breast cancer, instead of halting it.

The cancer ‘treatment’ that spurs cancer growth

The researchers say that lapatinib’s potential to cause accelerated cancer growth “may” explain why it did so poorly in clinical trials. While the drug may not always result in expedited cancer growth, the team found that lapatinib’s purported method of action is actually its undoing.

As sources explain, lapatinib is what’s known in the cancer industry as a “kinase inhibitor,” and its purpose is to “switch off” a protein called HER2 (human epidermal growth factor receptor 2). HER2 is responsible for encouraging cancer cells to grow and divide. Many cancer treatments (like lapatinib) work by turning off HER2 and thusly, telling cancer cells to stop growing or die. But, as the scientists now know, lapatinib doesn’t tell the cancer cells to die — it actually causes them to grow faster.

Sponsored solution from CWC Labs: This heavy metals test kit allows you to test almost anything for 20+ heavy metals and nutritive minerals, including lead, mercury, arsenic, cadmium, aluminum and more. You can test your own hair, vitamins, well water, garden soil, superfoods, pet hair, beverages and other samples (no blood or urine). ISO accredited laboratory using ICP-MS (mass spec) analysis with parts per billion sensitivity. Learn more here.

As reported by Science Daily:

Using a combination of biochemical, biophysical, and computer modelling tools, the team discovered that lapatinib causes HER2 receptors on cell membranes to pair up with a partner receptor called HER3. When you combine these inhibitor-induced HER2-HER3 pairs with naturally-occurring growth signals from outside of the cell, they can rearrange themselves into an active, signalling pair. In this state, the HER2-HER3 pair becomes very efficient at telling the cells to divide, more so than cells that haven’t been treated with the drug.

Essentially, lapatinib causes the cancer-causing protein HER2 to have an even stronger influence on cancer cell growth than it would normally possess. The researchers say that their findings will hopefully guide future research and the development of a “better” drug. However, taking this drug seems to be worse than not treating your cancer at all — so what qualifies as “better” may be debatable.

Conventional cancer ‘treatment’ shams are everywhere

It’s sad to say, but there are many types of conventional cancer treatment that do more harm than good. Chemotherapy and radiation therapy, in particular, are known for their deleterious health effects — yet so many people subject themselves to it, in a last-ditch effort to fight off their cancer. Indeed, the dishonest cancer industrial complex (and the pharmaceutical industry) knows that people will endure just about anything — so long as there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. But when it comes to chemo, that “light” is short-lived.

Numerous studies have pointed to chemo and radiation therapies as causes of cancer and yet, these are still regarded as viable treatment options — and in fact, are often a first line of defense. In early 2018, stunning research revealed that the massive cell death caused by chemo actually promotes cancer growth. As Natural News writer Isabelle Z. reported:

In a study by the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, radiation and chemotherapy treatments that kill tumor cells were found to cause cancerous tumors to grow bigger and more prolific. In fact, the dying cancer cells that chemotherapy set into motion actually trigger the inflammation that causes tumors to grow more aggressively.

It seems that hardly any of modern medicine’s “treatments” actually work when it comes to halting cancer (see for more coverage). Nonetheless, you can learn more about natural remedies and other health solutions at

Why do many women experience breast cancer recurrence after a mastectomy?

If you find out you have breast cancer, your first instinct might be to get rid of it using whatever means possible. Having a mastectomy isn’t a decision any woman takes lightly, of course, but, for many, the idea of sacrificing your breast to be cancer-free seems like a fair trade to make. Unfortunately, however, having a mastectomy isn’t the end of many women’s breast cancer story – and for some, it’s just the beginning.

In fact, breast cancer patients are actually more likely to see their cancer return and spread in the first year and a half after getting a mastectomy or having their tumor removed along with healthy surrounding tissue.

Now, a study by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology has found that it’s actually the healing process of the surgical scar that is causing women’s breast cancer to recur after surgery. It’s a complicated mechanism that has to do with your immune system, whose default mode is stopping the spread of cancer. While healing from a mastectomy, these healing forces are distracted from their job of stemming the spread of cancer and forced to focus on getting the wound closed up instead, preventing infections, spurring the growth of blood vessels, and promoting repair. In other words, they’re simply too busy to keep cancer cells from spreading to other body parts.

It’s this wound response that allows disseminated cancer cells to then grow and thrive, forming tumors in other areas of the patient’s body such as the lungs, liver and brain. In many cases, this can be even more dangerous than the original breast tumor, which is a very scary prospect indeed.

If you’ve already gotten a mastectomy or you have a good reason to do so, you can try to minimize the chances of this happening to you through a healthy diet. Consuming foods rich in antioxidants can help fight against cancer and protect your body from its spread. Some excellent choices include leafy green vegetables, dark chocolate, and berries. All of these are useful even if you don’t have cancer as they support a healthy immune system in general.

The researchers also suggest that anti-inflammatory medicine could help keep the immune system under control so the cancer can’t spread. Tests with mice showed that this was another effective route, but more studies are needed to see just how successful it may be in humans.

Mastectomy doesn’t reduce risk of cancer death

A study of more than half a million American breast cancer patients over the course of eight years found that a double mastectomy does not offer significant protection to women from a recurrence of their cancer. There are a few specific cases where it may be useful, such as in those with a strong family history of ovarian or breast cancer or a personal history of radiation, but by and large, double mastectomies aren’t helping women live longer.

This is particularly concerning against the backdrop of rising double mastectomies involving one cancerous and one healthy breast, a procedure that rose from 4 percent of patients in 2002 to almost 13 percent in 2012. In some cases, women are undergoing the procedure out of a fear of recurrence that experts say is disproportionate to the true risk, while others might be pushed into it by profit-minded doctors.

Cancer is absolutely terrifying, but it’s important to consider all the facts before undergoing such a dramatic procedure. Getting a second and even third opinion can sometimes help put things in perspective, especially from a doctor who won’t be profiting from the operation, and researching alternatives can help give people peace of mind. Sometimes a mastectomy really is the best choice, but many of us have been conditioned to believe that surgery and chemotherapy are the only ways to rid ourselves of cancer, and that simply isn’t always the case.

Medical tyranny: Woman who rejected breast cancer diagnosis may still be forced undergo surgery without her consent

When a doctor suggests an operation that you don’t feel is necessary, you have the right to decide not to move forward with it – right? If you happen to have any sort of mental illness, it’s something that doctors could use to say you’re not in your right mind to make such decisions and then go ahead and do as they please regardless of your opinion.

That is what is happening right now in the U.K., as a 66-year-old woman who suffers from paranoid schizophrenia is set to be placed under general anesthesia and have breast cancer surgery against her will. A High Court judge has granted the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust an order that is said to be in the woman’s best interest to remove a tumor in her left breast.

The woman, who has only been identified as “JT,” denies that she has cancer. She believes the tumor is merely a cyst and does not see the need for surgery. The judge said her mental illness means she does not have the capacity to decide on her own whether or not to undergo treatment.

After hearing arguments from lawyers representing both the woman and her doctors, the judge wrote in his decision that he was satisfied that she did indeed have breast cancer and that the proposed surgery was the right course of action.

Medical treatment could be what caused cancer in the first place

It’s interesting to note that schizophrenia is associated with a higher risk of breast cancer, and some studies pin the blame on the antipsychotics given to such patients. A study released earlier this year showed that women who have schizophrenia have double the risk of breast cancer compared to those without the illness.

In particular, those women who were undergoing a combination therapy of both first-generation and second-generation antipsychotics had a significantly higher risk of breast cancer. The drugs linked to higher risk include risperidone, amisulpride, and paliperidone.

Experts report that it is not unusual for schizophrenics to deny that they have cancer. A delay in diagnosis is common, and many do not follow through on recommended surgery. Some patients have even been known to attack their caregivers, according to a study in the American Journal of Surgery.

Consent to treatment

The official website of the NHS says that if people who have the capacity to make informed decisions choose to reject a treatment, their decision has to be respected even if it could cause them to die. However, it’s very different for those who are deemed to be incapable of making their own decisions.

The site reads:

If a person doesn’t have the capacity to make a decision about their treatment, the healthcare professionals treating them can go ahead and give treatment if they believe it’s in the person’s best interests. But clinicians must take reasonable steps to seek advice from the patient’s friends or relatives before making these decisions.

It’s not the first time something like this has happened in the U.K. A 55-year-old woman with learning difficulties was forced to undergo surgery for advanced uterine cancer. She had originally agreed to the operation, but later changed her mind and stopped showing up to medical appointments. She said she had a phobia of needles and hospitals.

Learning disabilities were somehow enough to have her deemed incapable of making rational decisions about her healthcare, and she was forced to undergo a hysterectomy and have her ovaries and Fallopian tubes removed. Doctors said that they would sedate her and bring her to the operating room, and then turn to “reasonable force and/or sedation to prevent [her] leaving hospital.”

In other words, if you don’t want to get a treatment your doctors want you to have for whatever reason, they could have you declared mentally unfit and do it anyway.
